Winner of the Fairplay Bestes Kartenspiel
in 2001

Mutiny on high seas! The players have signed onto a merchant
ship to sell their commodities. The captain steers the ship, hopefully with the
support of the first mate. The mutineer, however, has other ideas: with the
ship’s boy, he’ll try to wrest control of the ship. While the mutiny proceeds,
the merchant gets the maximum benefit from his trades and the dockmaster chooses
extra commodities.
This is not
an expansion to Verräter, but an entirely new successor game from Verräter
designer, Marcel-Andr Casasola-Merkle. With the highland pacified in Verrater,
we now move to the ocean. Through bluff and strategy, players try to turn
against the ship's captain, seizing the profits intended to be turned at the
next port. Game includes a Pirate variant.

Recensione Bruno Faidutti:
"...Two years after Verraeter, Meuterer is more than a sequel. It brings
some of the mechanics of Verrater in a different world - the sea. No more
traitor, but a mutineer eager to take the place - and the victory points - of
the captain. Both games look very similar at first look: a 12 cards circular
board, though they now figure islands, character cards that players must chose
and pick, which are now mutineer, ship's boy, boatswain, merchant and
loadin-clerk, and of course the captain. The two games, however, are more
different than they first look. In Meuterer, players score points not only with
fighting for the captain or the mutineer, but also with trade. Conflict is less
direct than in Verraeter, but also more subtle. The stratege card is now a
merchant ship circling the islands, and captain and mutineer try to lead it to
different islands. The card play is a bit more complex, since it determines the
ship's move, the character cards choice, and the resource trade, and it can feel
strange and disturbing in the first turns, but it's also highly subtle.
All in all, this Mutineer is a
worthy successor of the Traitor..."
